Call for papers – Designing for ‘Situated Elderliness’
The special session Design Culture for Ageing Well: Designing for ‘Situated Elderliness’ aims to open upinterdisciplinary discussions between social scientists, seniors’ association members, healthcare practitioners, researchers and practitioners from human-computer interaction, ambient assisted living and related fields, and other interested persons. The special session aims to bring together people from diverse backgrounds.
Roles of “diversity”, “heterogeneity” and “abilities” will be core themes, based on an ability-based understanding of aging and situated elderliness. The organizers invite position papers that focus on topics related to “ageing well”, “ambient assisted living” or similar.
“Sound & Image”
„Sound & Image“ is a day devoted to lectures, debates and performances exploring sound in relation to visual art forms. In the first part of the day (11am – 4pm) doctoral students and artistic researchers present their research to a critical group of fellow doctoral students, supervisors and experts. This takes place in the context of SeminArt, a cross-association seminar aimed at doctoral researchers in the visual arts.
The second part of the day (4.30pm – 10pm) is open to a wider audience of artists, students, researchers and anyone interested in the topic of sound & image. The day concludes with a performance by the experimental tuba player and composer Robin Hayward, followed by the multidisciplinary improvisation performance „2 x 2“ (Peter Jacquemyn, Klaas Verpoest, Sigrid Tanghe and Jan Pillaert). „Sound & Image“ is organised by LUCA – Faculty of the Arts in collaboration with SeminArt/HISK, Transmedia Impact Sessions and M – Museum Leuven. All lectures and debates are in English.
