Social Spaces is a cross-disciplinairy research group of the MAD-Faculty (Media, Arts & Design Faculty – KHLIM-PHL), operating within a context of art, design and reflection. Social Spaces’ goal is to create social, participatory, but also imaginary and functional designs for various (often neglected) groups within society.
The main focus of the research group is to amplify participation and critically reflect on the hybridity of the digital and physical.Social Spaces explores and experiments with the social character of art, (new) media and design. These experiments lead to the creation of amongst others, alternative media interfaces, participatory art and design, social and interactive textiles and the development and reshaping of methods within design research.
