Sandy Claes

Sandy Claes (1982) studied Audiovisual Arts at the Media and Design Academy in Genk. With her graduation project “On a lead”, she won the award for best-animated short at the International Short Film Festival of Leuven in 2005.  In 2006,  Sandy created together with Daan Wampers the animated short film ‘Bruised’ (dutch title: Blauwblauw), based on a poem by Miguel Declercq. This film was awarded as Best Non-narratieve Film at the I Castelli Animati Film Festival of Rome, Italy. Later that year they experimented with animation techniques, resulting in ‘Domino’, which was recognized as Best Mobile Film at the International Short Film Festival of Leuven (2007), at Cinepocket Festival in Brussels (2008), both in Belgium and at Filmo, LABoral Film Festival in Madrid, Spain (2010).

Today she is an independent filmmaker, lecturer and researcher at the MAD faculty.
